Exhibition 'Barely There' monoprints with kiln-formed glass at Domino Gallery for Liverpool Biennial Independents 2018
This exhibition in 2018 was inspired by the ‘Glass Phenomenon’ whereby there were reported cases of people who came to believe that they were made of glass and could shatter into fragments. These people were utterly debilitated by this belief and went to extraordinary lengths to try and protect themselves from this happening. It was thought to be caused by the introduction of glass being used more widely as a structural material in the Industrial Revolution and the confusion of it being at the same time both a liquid and a solid material that you could also see through, both structurally strong and fragile. People came to believe that they were also invisible. There are many parallels between this phenomenon and modern life. This is an ongoing project with the phase two works becoming more fragmented and 3D.
